CRAFTWORK
Local craftwork resists passionately againist modern professions. It isi still possible to find the traditional hand-made baskets of reed and olive twigs. There is stillsome woman able to hand-weave blankets, towels and woolen scarves on the loom.
The art of embroidering, once very popular, has almost completely disappeared. Local confectionery, specilaized in wedding-sweets and still very out-spread during the 50es, is now avaitable only upon request.
On the contrary, the production of wrought iron and of rustic kitchen furniture is flourishing. |
