TORRE GUACETO

Torre Guaceto is located about 16 Km. north of Brindisi on the Adriatic coast. This area is of a great environmental importance and it extends over 215 ha on the mainland and 570 ha on the sea.

Its surface is mainly covered by swamps and coastal waters. Due to its vegetation it gives shelter to several faunal species “non migratory as well as migratory ones”: the habitat seems particularly suitable to waterfowls. Besides these naturalistic aspects, there is a considerable amount of archeological finds dating back to the Iron Age, the Bronze Age and following epochs, and a watch tower of the 15th century.

But especially the presence of charming little bays, separated by reef and deeply cut into the Mediterranean “macchia” has the power to draw a large number of bathers each summer.
